Our History:
Crowley Insurance Agency has been proudly serving Vermont families and businesses since 1947. Today, Crowley Insurance Agency is part of Kinney Insurance Agency, a third-generation Vermont independent insurance agency. Together, we combine the local relationships and trusted service that built the Crowley name with the resources, expertise, and carrier partnerships of one of Vermont’s leading independent agencies.
The Crowley Insurance Agency was founded in 1947 by Bernard and Ila Crowley, initially representing a single insurance company, National Grange. As the agency grew, additional insurance companies and services were added to better serve the needs of the community.
In 1957, their oldest son, Thomas M. Crowley, joined the agency, followed shortly thereafter by their youngest son, John W. Crowley. Their middle son, Gerritt B. Crowley, joined in 1962, continuing the family’s commitment to serving local clients.
In 1992, Gerritt purchased his brothers’ interests and continued leading the agency for more than four decades. On December 31, 2003, long-time employee Gail McKenna purchased the agency and built upon its family-oriented foundation while embracing new technology, products, and services to meet the evolving needs of clients.
On December 31, 2020, Gail successfully transitioned ownership of Crowley Insurance Agency to Alan and Drew Kinney, owners of Kinney Insurance Agency. Since then, Crowley clients have continued to receive the personalized service they have come to expect, while benefiting from expanded carrier access, enhanced technology, and the support of a larger independent agency.
